Given the current state of the pandemic in the Los Angeles area and the pace of vaccine roll-out, the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K and the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS will be rescheduled to the fall of 2021. We are currently exploring available dates with our host cities and venues. This process will take some weeks and a decision regarding new dates will be announced as soon as possible. All decisions will be made with the health and safety of all athletes, volunteers, and city officials as our top priority. For more race updates please visit  

For our LA Road Runners, this means that the current 20-week training program will be suspended and moved to a later date. In the meantime, we are working hard to ensure the continuity of our online training resources and community through the LARR website and social media channels, and are actively planning an exciting season ahead.  

While we are prevented from holding the events as we had originally planned, we thank you for your understanding and we look forward to an amazing 2021 training season, and an exceptional race experience in the fall when we can pay tribute to everyone who has been touched by the pandemic and come together to celebrate the City of Los Angeles.

Health & Safety Guidelines

Weekly Group Run Policies & Member Participation Requirements 

When we are able to begin our in-person runs again, participants will be required to follow the below guidelines for the health and safety of all our members, in order to participate in 2021 group runs–– without exception.  

A physical distance of 6 feet is required at all times.
• Masks 
must be worn at all times while not actively running.
• Masks must cover the nose and mouth and be worn at all times, except while running – in which case a distance of 8-feet or greater from other runners must be maintained. 
• You may not participate if you are feeling sick or ill, and/or have a fever, or if you have been in contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19.
• You may not participate if you have been in contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 positive case in the last 14 days. For any members who have been in contact with someone who is COVID positive, quarantine instructions can be found at 
For those participating in the group runs, should you test positive for COVID-19, and have attended groups runs in the past 14 days, notify LARR Coach Mark Minichiello and LARR Program Coordinator Maria Miller and/or a McCourt Foundation/LARR representative immediately. Continued participation will be contingent on medical verification of negative status.
Persons from high risk groups for COVID-19 complications should consult their physician before participating.
• Do not engage in traditional forms of physical contact (handshakes, high-fives, hugs, etc.) 
• Do not share personal items such as hydration, energy gels, towels, etc.
Participants will be required to carry personal hydration (bottles/packs). Limited single use refills will be available for those in need but cannot be guaranteed.
If you have recently returned to the U.S from other countries or areas effected by Covid-19, please wait 14-days before participating in any group run.
Participants whose actions do not meet all the above requirements, will not be allowed to participate.  

Meeting Locations & Gathering Size • Weekly Runs 

Every Saturday, Pace groups will meet at separate, designated locations in Santa Monica.
Each pace group will be given pre-planned routes that allows for social distancing, avoiding any other pace groups.
Location announcements and instruction will be sent prior to the run, directly to each individual pace group. 
There will designate one-way streets for our training routes this season - TBD.  
We will avoid any meeting locations or routes that may cause conflict for others (businesses, residents etc.)  
Never block entryways, sidewalks, or access to bathrooms. Ensure that others have room to get past the group while maintaining social distance guidelines.
We will limit the size of the pace groups to remain in compliance with local guidelines––current maximum not to exceed 10 individuals per group per LA County Public Health Guidelines
Participants may be broken up into even smaller groups based on Pace Leader numbers and updated with any changes to LA County Public Health and Safety guidelines. 

Post Group Run Procedures 

As pace groups complete their runs, participants must maintain social distance. Gathering of multiple pace group is not allowed.
Organized post-run activities at the training site that serve or share food will not occur until further notice.
